My oh my. The day is finally here! It felt like it would never come, but after just over a year on the web Erin Davenport Photography has a real, fitting place of her own. I want to sing I’m so thrilled! I’ve been on quite a journey over the past year but what I love most about the transformation is that I do finally feel like I’m coming home when I’m at erindavenport.com. It feels authentically me.
Designing is something I’ve always loved, but I’m a perfectionist in rehab and struggle with indecisiveness. Thus the new look of EDP went through about 412 renditions before I arrived here at the final product (which I love!):
It’s impossible to define where the journey to today truly began because it’s the sum of a lifetime of experiences. You might say a defining point was our garden-themed wedding in 2008:
I live for gardeny. Oh how I love it. All things fresh and pretty just make my heart go pitter patter. Meanwhile I also can’t get enough of stores like Ballard Designs and Ann Taylor/Loft. Both are so light, airy, feminine and classic. . .
I’ve been inspired by some really fabulous business women over the past few months, namely the ladies of Making Brands Happen; Lara Casey and Emily Ley. I so admire the way they approach authentic branding and I’ve aimed to soak up all the industry knowledge they’ve displayed in the re-branding of many of my fellow MTH alum. I’ve felt empowered to move ahead just by being around their work. Here’s a collection of the elements of my design, formatted in the lovely way of Emily.
Almost a year ago while in Las Vegas for WPPI I attended a workshop by Lara Casey and Harmony Walton called The Total Package. The collection of images below is a result of one of the exercises from that workshop–each image represents a feeling I’d like to elicit from visitors to my site as well as in my clients during their experience with EDP:

Finally, none of this newness would be possible without the talent of calligrapher Moya Minns who penned my name in such a beautiful and fitting way. It gives me such joy to finally release this rendering of Erin Davenport to you all after more than half a year of having it in my possession! Hallelujah, the day has come where it is now a permanent part of the site!
Speaking of the “site”, take a few minutes to click around on the tabs up top, we’re no longer just a blog over here but a true portfolio site as well! I’m equally happy with this fact as I am with the new design itself. Also, at the end of each blog post you’ll find five new icons which are pretty self explanatory, but I do want to point out in words that you are now able to subscribe to receive EDP blog posts by email as I publish them (be the first to know), and pin images from individual blog posts to Pinterest using the pin it icon! {Pinterest Plug: if you’re not using Pinterest yet and are planning a wedding or are at all a visual person you would really benefit by checking it out! It’s pretty much my favorite site ever. And I’m in good company :) Send me your email address if you’d like an invitation–I’ve heard it can speed up the process of getting started.}
Thank you so much for being a part of my journey. We’re all out of bubbly over here after New Year’s but I’m toasting to 2012 with my Fresca in hand! Here’s to fresh, lovely beginnings and continued growth along the way :)
